Modafinil enhances alertness in people who are sleep-deprived

Although the drug increases alertness in sleep-deprived individuals, there is a debate over whether it can help make you smarter. Modafinil is not approved as a study aid or as a way to help people meet deadlines. Researchers believe that it may be beneficial for people who suffer from sleep deprivation but do not want to endanger their health.
